YachtCheck for marinas

Never find out
the hard way.

We board every enrolled boat on your dock on a schedule and run a full systems check. Owners get a written report with photos. So do you, along with a one page summary of the whole dock. That file is what you take to your insurance broker at renewal.

The gap

A dock full of boats,
and nobody looking.

Boats don’t fail suddenly. They fail slowly, while nobody’s watching, and the dock is empty most of the week. Whatever is building in slip four is building whether or not anyone knows about it.

01

Owners are aboard a few days a month

A bilge pump can run every hour for three weeks and the only person who could notice is at home. Nothing about that shows up until it is expensive.

02

One boat is never one boat

A fire at one slip does not stay at that slip. It takes the boats either side of it and the dock underneath. You carry that across every vessel you have never looked inside.

03

You can't act on what you can't see

Without something written down there is no basis to ask an owner to fix a hazard. A dated finding with a photo attached gives you something to point at.

How it works

On a schedule.
Every boat. In writing.

The same check we run for private owners, run across a whole dock, with a summary written for the people responsible for it.

01

We board the boat

A checklist built for that vessel and her systems, not a generic form. Twenty to thirty checkpoints.

02

The owner gets the report

Written findings with a photo on every item. What we found, what it means, what happens if it waits.

03

You get the dock summary

One page. Boats clear, boats needing attention, what moved since last month. Owners opt in to sharing.

04

The record builds

Month over month the reports show direction, not just condition. A pattern no one time survey can show.

What it actually costs you

No invoice from us.
One discount from you.

YachtCheck is bought by the boat owner, the same way they buy detailing. You are never invoiced. Your only decision is whether to reward owners for letting you see the results.

01

The owner enrols and pays

Scheduled checks and reports, bought directly by the owner. Nothing comes to you.

02

The owner opts in to sharing

They choose to release their status to you. It stays their call, and they control it.

03

You discount their slip fee

A monthly reduction for enrolled and opted in boats. Most docks land on ten percent off the slip fee. You set the number.

The discount is what you trade for the data.

To be straight about it, this is not free for the marina. Owners buy the inspections, so nothing is ever invoiced to you, but the slip discount you offer for opting in is a real cost and it comes off your slip revenue.

What you get back is the thing you cannot buy any other way. Participation is the number an underwriter cares about. A dock with two boats enrolled tells an insurance broker almost nothing. A dock where nearly every boat is enrolled, with dated condition reports across all of them, is a different risk profile entirely. The discount is what moves you from the first situation to the second.

Whether that trade pays depends on what your carrier does with the documentation at renewal, which is a conversation for you and your broker rather than a promise from us.

Insurance

Show your insurance
broker something real.

Carriers price a dock on the assumption that nobody inspects anything, because at most residential docks and plenty of marinas that is exactly right. A file of dated, photographed checks is a different starting point for that conversation.

What to do with it

Take the reports to your insurance broker ahead of renewal and ask what they are worth on the policy. Most associations and small marinas arrive at renewal with nothing to show. This gives you a year of evidence instead.

YachtBoss produces the documentation. What a carrier does with it is their decision, and we do not quote, negotiate or promise a premium outcome. We are happy to join the call with your insurance broker.

Who it's for

HOA docks and
working marinas.

HOA and condo docks

You have slips, but no dockmaster.

Nobody is employed to walk the docks, so the association carries the exposure of every vessel with no way to see inside one. This gives the board visibility it has no other route to, without asking volunteers to become inspectors.

Commercial marinas

You have staff, but not inside the boats.

Your team maintains the facility. What sits in the slips is a different matter, and it is where the fire risk concentrates. We report on the vessels so your people stay focused on the property.

What we check

What sinks boats.
What starts fires.

Every vessel gets a checklist built around her own systems. These are the areas covered on every visit.

Shore power inlets and cords

Heat, scoring and corrosion at the connection.

AC panel and breakers

Nuisance trips logged and tracked month to month.

Galvanic isolation and ELCI

Tested, not assumed.

Batteries and charging

Resting voltage, charger output, terminals.

Bilge pumps and float switches

Cycle counts recorded every visit.

High water alarms

Sounded on manual test.

Water intrusion

Source traced when the rate changes.

Engines and generator

Run under load, RPM logged, not glanced at from the dock.

Strainers and fuel filters

Photographed before and after, dates recorded.

Fire suppression and extinguishers

Charge and expiry dates read, not estimated.

Smoke and CO detectors

Tested on every visit.

Dock lines, fenders and cleats

Chafe and placement for the tide range.
